Coming to America, 1988

Akim is the crown prince of the African state of Zamund. He is not at all satisfied that, according to local tradition, his parents should choose his wife, and he should accept their choice. Akim dreams that his future wife will love him for the fact that he is just a good cheerful guy, and not for his status and regalia. After some deliberation, Akim decides, in the company of his faithful friend and servant Sammy, to go to America to find a wife for himself. In New York, the prince, pretending to be a poor guy from Africa, goes to work as a janitor in a small restaurant where Lisa works, who really liked Akim.
